Spirit of the Phoenix: 1. Wedge

Thirty years ago, the former Princess Tai’an died in a fire in Weiyang Palace.

Before the palace change, Tai’an vaguely realized something was wrong.

The only elder brother fell off a horse and passed away three months ago, and his father lost his only son, and he has been ill ever since.

I don’t know when it started, the court was divided into two factions.

One faction insists on choosing a side branch young master to adopt. The other faction blatantly risked the disapproval of the world and insisted that Princess Tai’an, who was favored by the Holy One, be crowned as the empress dowager and inherit the throne.

Tai’an was terrified, and knelt before his father’s sickbed, holding a copy of “Saint Ancestor’s Instructions” and confessed: “Father Mingjian, the only thing Tai’an wishes for in his life is father’s peace and prosperity, and he never thought of what to do. Girl…I just want you to get better!”

Her father didn’t say anything, but waved her hand to get her up.

Tai’an couldn’t feel at ease, after much deliberation, she met her son-in-law Li Yanxiu outside Weiyang Palace.

“Yanxiu, I don’t want to be an empress dowager, we don’t want to get involved in such a head-scratching matter of seizing the heir.” She had tears in her eyes, “Let the side line recommend a child, and I will do it as usual. My princess, you can still be your son-in-law, okay?” Tai’an grabbed his sleeve.

Li Yanxiu’s eyes were heavy, and his expression was difficult to distinguish: “Man is a knife and I am a fish. Tai’an, things are no longer up to you and me. You believe in me, and I will always protect you.”

On the night of the palace change, the emperor was already out of water.

Tai’an lay beside his pillow, watching him take his last breath.

The imperial doctor waited for a long time, but what was waiting was full of flames.

Tai’an rushed out of the hall, looked around, the flags covered the sky, and the white “Li” was written on the sapphire blue flag.

She thought it was Li Du of the Five Cities Bingmasi who commanded the Bingqin King, but until the golden pillar that fell from the Qingliang Hall hit her forehead hard, she still couldn’t see the person she was thinking of, who could protect her. Her thoughtful son-in-law Li Yanxiu.

Fires filled the sky, and Tai’an came to a realization amidst the heart-piercing pain.

The body is getting lighter and lighter, as if floating in the air.

Tai’an floated above the imperial city, looking down at His Royal Highness Jin Luan, who was knelt down and prostrating all over the floor, and finally closed his eyes in despair.

When Tai’an opened his eyes again, everything had returned to calm.

The carved beams and painted pillars of Weiyang Palace were still the same as before, but in front of her stood a twelve or thirteen-year-old boy, looking at her silently, his immature face was full of disgust.

“Who are you? Why are you here?” Tai’an pointed at him in panic, but suddenly realized that his white and delicate hands were as thin as cicada’s wings.

She withdrew her hand tremblingly, spread it out in front of her, flipped it back and forth carefully, and finally realized that her arm had become a thin piece of paper with only front and back sides.

“I became, a piece of paper?”
